ASUS non ha intenzione di fermare la sua furia creatrice per nulla al mondo. E per questo motivo ha sfornato altri due tablet. Ciò che è più importante, però, è che ha fatto un netto cambio nella sua strategia di marketing e di nomenclatura delle sue creature: se la prima generazione di tablet ha ereditato il nome dalla fortunata serie Eee PC, questa seconda generazione vedrà scomparire la sigla “Eee” in favore del nome Transformer Pad. Tale cambiamento prende atto del fatto che il nome Eee viene spesso collegato ai netbook, che appartengono alla fascia bassissima del mercato PC e che non spiccano certo per caratteristiche, e che tale nome non viene quasi mai associato ai tablet: questi vengono spesso semplicemente chiamati “ASUS Transformer” e “ASUS Transformer Prime”, e ciò annulla di fatto l’importanza della sigla Eee.
Il primo modello della nuova serie è il Transformer Pad Infinity: molto simile al già conosciuto TF700T, ovvero un Prime con schermo FullHD, differisce da questo per la presenza di un processore dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 e una radio LTE. Sarà presente anche una versione con Tegra 3, ma sarà limitata ai soli dispositivi WiFi. I dispositivi con connettività mobile saranno dotati di processore Qualcomm S4. L’archiviazione interna partirà da 16GB (16, 32, 64), la RAM sarà di 1GB, ci sarà un’uscita HDMI e lo schermo sarà un Super IPS+ a risoluzione 1920×1200 protetto da Gorilla Glass. Anche per questo ci sono dei cambiamenti, poichè si tratta di Gorilla Glass 2; le differenze rispetto alla precedente versione sono però minime.
ASUS Transformer Pad Infinity arriverà nei negozi con Ice Cream Sandwich preinstallato e disporrà di 8GB di spazio sul servizio ASUS WebStorage. La batteria è accreditata per una durata di 10 ore, che diventano 16 in presenza della dock con tastiera. Non abbiamo ancora notizie circa prezzo e date di commercializzazione.
