La priorità massima che ha caratterizzato il lavoro congiunto di Silent Circle e Geeksphone è stata attribuita alla Privacy degli utenti ed il frutto del loro lavoro è Blackphone. Nome altamente suggestivo, ma non è la sola cosa di questo smartphone che può impressionare.

La versione di Android installata a bordo del terminale è chiamata PrivatOS, derivata da Android ed orientata alla sicurezza.
I preordini inizieranno già a partire dal prossimo 24 Febbraio e la presentazione ufficiale sarà fatta a Barcellona durante il Mobile World Congress 2014.
