Polaroid ha appena annunciato un prodotto che non è nè un cosiddetto cameraphone nè un phonecamera: non è uno smartphone, ma non è neppure solo una fotocamera. La nuova SC1630 Smart Camera è un ibrido tra smartphone e fotocamera digitale con sensore da 16 megapixel, lenti 36-108mm, zoom ottico 3x, touchscreen da 3.2 pollici con risoluzione 800×480, WiFi e… Android. Grazie a questo piccolo gioiello, gli utenti possono scattare foto di altissima qualità in 18 differenti modalità ed effettuare immediatamente il caricamento sui propri social network preferiti (e magari su DropBox?). L’accesso all’Android Market consente poi di espandere ulteriormente le possibilità della fotocamera con una miriade di applicazioni fotografiche (Camera Zoom FX, ad esempio) che consentono di prolungare la vita della fotocamera e di aggiungervi funzionalità altrimenti assenti. All’interno della fotocamera troviamo 512MB di spazio di archiviazione e 512MB di RAM, slot micro SIM e micro USB e jack da 2.5mm.


L’utilizzo come fotocamera classica – accensione e scatto in pochi secondi – sarà difficoltoso su questo dispositivo, visti i tempi di avvio di Android decisamente superiori a quelli solitamente visti sulle normali fotocamere digitali. La prospettiva di avere però una fotocamera completa all’interno del proprio telefono, però, aumenta di gran lunga le possibilità di utilizzo di quest’ultimo nello scattare fotografie e va direttamente incontro alla tendenza fattasi largo negli ultimi anni: scattare foto più con lo smartphone che con la fotocamera. Con gli stessi ingombri di una compatta e con la possibilità di telefonare, certamente la SC1630 Smart Camera farà la felicità di tutti coloro che utilizzano il proprio telefono per scattare fotografie. La commercializzazione del prodotto dovrebbe iniziare ad Aprile al costo di 299$ (235€ in teoria, 299€ in pratica), anche se non ci sono notizie circa i mercati coinvolti.
